Labour currently holds a solid 53 out of 63 council seats, making it one of the strongest majorities in London. The Conservatives have five seats, while there are two Independents and one from Ilford Independents for the first time.

Wards to watch: Mayfield, Clayhall, and Fullwell, as they all have sitting councillors who have left Labour to run as independents. Additionally, Chadwell and Churchfields are up for grabs with two vacant seats available for contest.
