Labour retained control of Redbridge Council on Thursday, winning 43 of 63 seats. For most of the borough, that's the headline. For Ilford specifically, the more significant story is what happened ward by ward.
What: Labour holds the council. But across Ilford's own wards, the Redbridge Independents won or shared seats in five out of seven areas.
Who is affected: All Ilford residents — this council controls housing, planning, roads, bins, and local services for the next four years.

▸ Ilford Town — Labour's Saima Ahmed won (910 votes). Redbridge Independents' Hossain Mohammed Enamul came within 5 votes of her (905). One seat each.
▸ Valentines — Redbridge Independents took two of three seats. Labour held one.
▸ Cranbrook — Redbridge Independents won two of three seats. Labour held one.
▸ Seven Kings — Redbridge Independents won one seat alongside two Labour.
▸ Clementswood — Redbridge Independents took one seat. Labour held two.
▸ Loxford — Labour held all three seats.
▸ Goodmayes — Labour held all three seats.
