Drone photos taken on Sunday (May 4) reveal that the flyover is looking more complete than it has in a long time since it closed for repairs.

What: Road markings are in place, and lane arrows have been painted, but there are still two exposed sections of water pipe and at least one visible repair hole that need attention.

Where: At the Gallows Corner flyover, where the A12 meets the A127 (Southend Arterial Road) in Harold Wood.

When: TfL is expected to release it this week (the week of May 5).

Who’s impacted? Anyone driving east through Havering, including residents of Ilford who use the A12 or A127 corridor.

The latest delay was due to a leak found in the newly installed water main during final testing. Essex & Suffolk Water (ESW) has confirmed that they’re working around the clock to fix the leak and have isolated sections of the pipe, which might allow for a partial reopening while repairs are ongoing.

What does this mean for you? While there’s no confirmed reopening date yet, this is the closest the flyover has looked to being ready. A partial reopening could happen before everything is fully completed.

What should you do? Keep an eye out for TfL's official update this week at https://tfl.gov.uk/ — or we’ll make sure to cover it in the next issue!
